Terry Parrish

Founder & Operator

She has been a Herding Judge of AKC and AHBA trials since their inception. She judged the first all-breed herding event in the nation and is a designer of AHBA courses. Terry began herding with the Oliver Livestock Co., a working cattle ranch. Terry began managing her own commercial flock in the 1990s and began teaching herding full-time in 1991. Terry has qualified her own dogs for the National Finals since the beginning of the competition, as have many of her students. Terry has been featured on many southern California TV and radio shows, including Animal Planet, and in numerous newspaper interviews. She trials extensively with her dogs and conducts clinics across the entire United States as well as Australia. The vast accomplishments of Terry's students testify to her instructing ability and her knowledge of dog training.

Rich Godfrey

Instructor

Rich is both an AKC and AHBA Herding Test and Trial Judge. He and his dogs have earned six herding championships culminating in two "Triple Crown" wins in AKC, AHBA and ASCA. His dogs are among only a handful of German Shepherds in the entire nation to achieve this honor. Rich has been involved in herding for nearly two decades–training, trialing and teaching. Rich specializes in working with all dog breeds. As a testament to his teaching and coaching skills, his students and their dogs have successfully won awards at all levels of herding from instinct tests to championships. Rich is a Vietnam era veteran who served four years as a Navy Corpsman. After leaving the Navy, he spent the next 38 years as a med tech for the Veterans Administration Hospital in San Diego.

Kat Hammond

Instructor

Kat has been herding for almost six years but has been working with dogs and horses for half her life. She owns, trains, and actively trials with her three border collies, Cole (6yrs), Ciaran (8yrs), and Bryce (1yr). As a team, they've traveled all over the West to compete in USBCHA trials. She has competed in local AKC & AHBA trials.

They have earned AHBA and AKC Titles in sheep, ducks, and cattle classes. In addition, they have received several High in Trial and Reserve High in Trial awards. She qualified and competed both Cole and Ciaran in the 2023 USBCHA National Finals. Cole and Kat made it to the semi-finals and are currently ranked 22nd in North America.

Though she owns border collies, she enjoys working with other breeds. Kat ultimately loves getting people excited about the sport and helping them learn how to work with their dogs as a team.
